what would we be without wishful thinking

I’m thinking of starting a blog called On Our Way Home: the adventures of superUvita
superUvita is my bicycle. She and I have had some wild adventures on our commute up and down the hill this year. For example, just now, on my ride home, I pulled over because there were a couple of people on the side of the road with binoculars out. I asked them what they were looking at (btw there have been people in this same spot with binoculars out for the past three days, but they always look so peaceful and until today I haven’t asked what all the fuss is about), and they said, “BABY EAGLES!” They handed me a pair of binoculars and sure enough, there sat a beautiful bald eagle in her nest, with a freshly caught fish from the Willamette in her beak. I thanked the couple for sharing, and the man said, “Don’t forget to tell ‘em that a couple of crazy geriatric bird watchers spotted ‘em!” I hopped back on my bike and a few seconds later was greeted by two does frolicking through the lovely spring evening. We had a staring contest and they sent me on my way.
Thank goodness for bike commutes.

Be not so nervous,
Be not so frail,
Someone watches you,
You won’t fail.
Be not so nervous,
Be not so frail.
Be not so sorry for what you’ve done,
You must forget them now it’s done.
And when you wake up you will find that you can run,
Be not so sorry for what you’ve done.
Be not so fearful,
Be not so pale,
Someone watches you,
You won’t leave the rail.
Be not so fearful,
Be not so pale.
